David Kav: Tunes

This Is My Surrender (with Jen Porter)

The music was written WAY back in 1999 or 2000. I was still in the military and had no idea what to do with it. It wasn't until...

2003...the day after I stopped drinking. I turned on my tape recorder and started singing to the chords in the tune. They came out of nowhere. Had tears in my eyes while singing this.

I did record this with KAMPUS PROJECT with a full band sound. However, was NEVER happy with the guitar solo at the end. So, once again, it was shelved.

Lucky for me that I did. Once again, Jen Porter added nice vox in this song.

How many times and ways can they tell you to keep these secrets under wraps?
How many times does it take for a sane man to tell me that I’m not in tact?

CHORUS:
Oh, don’t cry
Seems my way doesn’t work anymore
So, I’ll try
Anything to get out of this Hell

Seems you thought the joy that was bleeding from you was the only way
‘Til your actions proved the past few days that you’ve been living in vain

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE:
‘Cause this madness don’t work anymore
And I don’t want to feel the hurting anymore
You told me from time to time that this bottle’s a fix.
But, it’s left me with this – so I’ll leave it as is.

SOLO

‘Cause I sing these songs from my lonely room with the tears falling from my eyes
It seems that my sympathy card has been cashed in long ago when I spun these lies

Oh, don’t cry
Seems my way doesn’t work anymore
So, I’ll try
Anything but what I’ve been doing

Don’t cry
Seems my way doesn’t work anymore
So, I’ll try
Anything to get out of this Hell
